Valter Mendes, an award winning Toronto photographer, shoots a range of photography always attempting to highlight the best of human life. His work is explosive and emotive, capturing the “art of emotion” in every photo. He specializes in modern portraits, lifestyle and fashion photography.
What inspired you to become a photographer?
For me, photography truly is an art form and I have been inspired by images in movies, art, literature and fashion. It is a way of expressing what I visually see through a lens and proving that there truly is beauty in everything, if just viewed from the right perspective.
How would you characterize your style?
I shoot more of a photojournalist style with a little bit of a fashion twist. I have to learn about my clients first and then take that information to make sure that their photo session is authentic. I will never shoot the same thing twice because it has to be different, it has to be you.
Who are your clients and what should they expect?
Connected to my desire to be a storyteller, I love to shoot people. I put people in fun places/situations and just start capturing candid moments that will just unfold during the photo session. I like to keep all photo sessions creative, relaxed and most importantly fun.
Anything else to share?
Each of my photos has been taken with a dedicated and an unwavering passion for life and photography.
