Kim Lovell is a versatile contemporary lifestyle photographer who adores people watching. Every beautiful and timeless image starts with the family. What inspired you to become a photographer?

I had an interesting teacher in university who was into photography and there was a darkroom we could use. I was always photographing family members and friends – the whole feel of being the “director” when you’re doing a portrait session was just awesome.

How would you characterize your style?

I capture the essence of the family bond through a unique blend of contemporary and traditional styles. I photograph family portrait sessions much like weddings … a combination of modern and classic images with lots of fun that document the client’s family life.

Who are your clients and what should they expect?

Typically my clients are urbanites with young children and they understand that time flies by fast. For these parents, it’s all about capturing the growth of their children on a regular basis and having those images for a lifetime. My lifestyle portraits are best suited to natural light and outdoor spaces. This may mean starting at home before exploring the local ravines, woods and parks.
