Brian Tao owns and operates Luxography, located in downtown Toronto. He specializes in lifestyle photography, covering the complete cycle from weddings to maternity to infants to families. He also dedicates his time and expertise to the education and development of other photographers, amateur and professional alike.

What inspired you to become a photographer?

Photography has been in my blood ever since I picked up my father’s Minolta as a child growing up in Ottawa. The real bite came with the advent of digital cameras. In 2005 I gave up a 17-year career in IT to pursue my full-time passion in photography.

How would you characterize your style?

Past clients have raved about how I am able to put them and their family at ease, allowing the true spirit of each personality to shine through. I believe in documenting your family history with care and humility, producing beautiful, evocative and timeless photographs that will be cherished for years to come.

Who are your clients and what should they expect?

They realize the value of exquisite photography and view me as a trusted member of the family, not just another service provider. My children’s sessions are more like playdates than photo shoots. I know I have succeeded when the kids ask why can’t “uncle Brian” stay longer, and when I will come visit again!
