Fresh to Your Front Door: A Look at Front Door Organics

Having grown up working in their respective family’s businesses, it seems fitting that moms Angela Donnelly and JJ Sheppard would co-own and operate one of their own – especially one that seems to  understand exactly what busy Toronto families need: a large selection of organic and local products, shopped for online, all delivered each week right to your door. Started in 1997, the couple’s company Front Door Organics now employs 12 staff and delivers over 800 boxes each week to homes across the GTA.

Imagine cutting out that time you spend at crowded supermarkets by ordering online and having a bounty of fresh quality produce, diapers, baby food and more arrive on your doorstep each week. Shoppers can choose from over 130 different certified organic fruits and vegetables and over 500 organic and ecologically responsible grocery products. For locavores, Front Door Organics (often referred to as FDO by those-in-the-know) also prioritizes Ontario-based businesses, organics and producers, including Ontario-raised certified organic meat.

Worried you’ll get stuck with parsnips six weeks straight? Your online account easily allows you the flexibility to fully customize your delivery. Also, if you’re going on vacation, you can skip unwanted deliveries or cancel the service with just two days notice.

Front Door Organics also sees the Toronto community as part of their family and are actively involved in a long list of charity, causes and social programs. Since its inception in 1997, the company has donated a weekly Fresh Box to Anduhyaun Shelter, the second oldest shelter in Canada providing unique programs and services to Aboriginal women with or without children leaving abusive situations, and sends all excess consumable food weekly to the LAMP Community Health Centre, a multi-service, community based charitable organization that provides a wide range of programs and services to improve a person’s health.
