Kid-Friendly Toronto: Family Day at the AGO

Family Day has become a great bonus day for many families. The winter months can be long and trying, Family Day gives us a day to hang out with our families. The last couple of years our family has been spending Family Day at the Art Gallery of Ontario. If you are looking for the perfect kid-friendly Toronto outing for this Family Day, why not head to the AGO.

Kid-friendly Toronto

The day will be jam packed with special programming for children of all ages. Here’s a starter list of the fantastic activities and galleries you will not want to miss on your Family Day visit.

First stop is Walker’s Court, where kids can dance all day long at the all-day dance party. Walker Court is also the starting point for a gallery wide game of Clue. Kids will also have a blast building and playing with the giant floor games.

Make Art, Build, do Yoga and More

The Weston Family Learning Centre is where families will find a wide variety of kid-friendly Toronto activities to explore. Kids can create their own works of art at guided art making activities. Families will have a blast in the “Build it and Take it Apart Room”. Take a break and relax at a drop-in family yoga class. If this is your family’s first time visiting the AGO, families can go on guided KGO gallery tours. There really is something for everyone.

Be sure to stop by the new Kids Gallery. A newly opened gallery at the AGO that is dedicated entirely to kids and the interactive exploration of art. The current exhibit, titled Just Like Me: Explore, Imagine, Create, will have kids getting hands on making portraits and dressing up. A great space for kids of all ages.

In my "previous life" I was a mental health my current life I'm a stay-at-home mom with 2 beautifully adventurous kids. I share everything that lands on my kitchen counter over on my blog, Kitchen Counter Chronicles. Swing by and learn how we are greening their lives; what we are crafting; what we are cooking and what we are reading. While you will often find the girls and I inside the kitchen, you will also find us out and about getting our hands dirty, exploring and learning outdoors.
