What to do in Toronto: Dream of Summer at the Boat Show

what to do in toronto boat showOkay, I am a huge proponent of getting outside and playing in the winter weather. I think we need to embrace our beautiful cold climate. However, even I can appreciate spending a little time indoors dreaming of the warmer weather of summer. It has been an especially frigid winter, and if you are wondering what to do in Toronto for the perfect warm getaway, it has to be the Toronto International Boat Show.

What to do in Toronto

The Toronto International Boat Show (TIBS) is running from January 11-19, 2014 at the Direct Energy Centre. You don’t need to own a boat to have a great time exploring the show. Here are some of the show highlights.

The lake will be a very busy spot during the boat show. You can see performances like a boat-driving dog, professional wakeboarders and wakeskaters. Take in a canoe and kayak seminar or a boat handling demonstration. Enjoy a free ride in an inflatable boat, kayak, canoe or paddleboat.

Canadian Canoe Museum – Bring the kids to discover pieces from the Canadian Canoe Museum, that will be on show at the TIBS. Along with artifact pieces from the museum there will also be educational displays; canoe building demonstrations, a woodworking studio and you can carve your own paddle. Kids will have fun painting paddles, making bracelets and carving in soapstone.

In my "previous life" I was a mental health professional...in my current life I'm a stay-at-home mom with 2 beautifully adventurous kids. I share everything that lands on my kitchen counter over on my blog, Kitchen Counter Chronicles. Swing by and learn how we are greening their lives; what we are crafting; what we are cooking and what we are reading. While you will often find the girls and I inside the kitchen, you will also find us out and about getting our hands dirty, exploring and learning outdoors.
