Where to Eat in Toronto: Madhus Cafe

where to eat in torontoThe ever popular upper beach neighbourhood is home to one of the trendiest coffee shops in the city. You don’t have to be a hipster to appreciate a great cup of coffee, good food and comfortable ambiance. If you are wondering where to eat in Toronto where you can find all of this and local art, check out Madhus Cafe.

Stepping inside Madhus Cafe is like walking into your cool friend’s apartment. The vintage couches and furniture provide the perfect perches for spending some quality time with friends or reading a good book. Madhus Cafe opened in early 2014 with the goal of creating a cafe space that is focused on the arts. The owners wanted to build a comfortable and inspiring space for the community. The walls of the cafe are hung like an art gallery. Local artists are invited to show their work in the space.

The vibe is very chill…as the smooth sounds of Bob Marley play on the record player in the corner. Madhus is not just about the arts, they are about great coffee and food. As a tea drinker I was so pleased to see a wide selection of Pilot teas available. For those interested in the coffee, Madhus offers locally roasted Pilot Coffee. Pilot Coffee Roasters are quickly becoming known as one of the best roasters in the city. To go along with the beverages, Madhus Cafe has a tasty selection of fresh baked treats. Looking for something a little more substantial? Check out their Fresh Boxes. Each Fresh Box is jam packed with healthy, seasonal veggies, homemade sauces and are made fresh to order. There really is something for everyone.

What about the family friendly factor? The space is comfortable and inviting for moms and tots. Madhus would make a great stop when you are out on your next playdate…with or without the kids.

In my "previous life" I was a mental health professional...in my current life I'm a stay-at-home mom with 2 beautifully adventurous kids. I share everything that lands on my kitchen counter over on my blog, Kitchen Counter Chronicles. Swing by and learn how we are greening their lives; what we are crafting; what we are cooking and what we are reading. While you will often find the girls and I inside the kitchen, you will also find us out and about getting our hands dirty, exploring and learning outdoors.
