Summer and ice cream go hand-in-hand and if you’re planning on spending time along Lake Ontario in the heat this year you’ll likely get a craving for the cold stuff. Here are five of the best places to get ice cream along the lake:
Grab a scoop from Ed’s and head down to the Beach in the east end for a day in the sun. Ed’s has been around since the 1950s so you know the quality will be fantastic every time.

If you’re by the lake downtown, be sure to try Lick It Gelato, known for its rich gelato and light sorbetto.
250 Queens Quay West
Located in Humber Bay in Etobicoke, Lola’s Gelato is made from scratch on-site in small batches so the taste of each bite is divine. Lola’s signature flavour is “Elvis” which is banana gelato, peanut butter crunch and grape jelly. Address: 16 Brookers Lane, Etobicoke.
Not exactly beside the lake, but not too far from it either is San Remo Bakery. San Remo is known for its donuts, delicious baked goods and hot food however it also boasts a super-scrumptious gelato area that’s hard to pass up.
374 Royal York Road
If you keep travelling west along the Lakeshore in south Etobicoke, you’ll find Scoops n More where you’ll enjoy premium Kawartha Dairy ice cream.
3426 Lakeshore Blvd. West
A favourite stop in New Toronto, you can grab a scoop or two and walk down to the lake for a gorgeous view of the city. The menu changes all the time so be ready to spend some time figuring out what flavour is right for you. Lots of vegan options are available.
